International Day of Journalism Celebrated at the 13th Global Festival of Journalism & AVGC Noida 2025

Noida, India – February 12, 2025: The 13th Global Festival of Journalism & AVGC Noida 2025 proudly celebrated the International Day of Journalism, marking its 13th anniversary since its inception in 2012.

The event was spearheaded by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Festival President, who emphasized the significance of February 12 as a day dedicated to acknowledging the role of journalists worldwide. “It has been 13 years since we established International Day of Journalism, and it is heartening to see it gaining global recognition. Journalism is the backbone of a democratic society, and today, we honor the courage and dedication of media professionals across the world,” Dr. Marwah stated.

The International Day of Journalism was originally conceived, designed, and announced by the International Journalism Centre (IJC), a global body representing 50,000 media professionals. Under the leadership of Dr. Sandeep Marwah, IJC continues to advocate for press freedom, ethical journalism, and media education on an international scale.

To mark the occasion, a special poster was launched as a tribute to the journalism community. The celebration witnessed an overwhelming response from media professionals, journalists, and students from across India and abroad who came together to acknowledge the vital role of journalism in society.

Several distinguished media personalities and industry experts extended their congratulations to Dr. Sandeep Marwah and shared their insights on the evolving landscape of journalism: Awanish Singh, Digital Content Creator, highlighted the role of new-age journalism in shaping public opinion. Mayank Mishra, Digital Creator, emphasized the impact of social media platforms on independent journalism. Monika S. Bhattacharya, Anchor at News India 24×7, spoke about the importance of ethical reporting and responsible journalism.

Anurag Mishra, Executive Editor of Dainik Jagran, discussed the transformational journey of print media in the digital era. Amitabh Srivastava, Entrepreneur, Strategic Advisor & Media Consultant, shared insights on journalism as a powerful tool for societal change. Kaveree Bamzai, Indian Journalist, Author & Film Critic, stressed the need for journalists to maintain integrity and independence in reporting. Ramesh Chandra, Media Professional, reflected on the evolution of media ethics and challenges faced by journalists today.

Shyam Sahay, Senior Journalist & Editor at Sansad TV, elaborated on the role of television journalism in shaping national discourse. Dr. Harish Chandra Burnwal, Senior Journalist & Author, highlighted the historical significance of journalism and its enduring impact on society.
